Student Sessions

Below is an example of what the student schedule is composed of during a typical Registration Day. Each student's schedule is unique and is developed according to the needs of the student.

Morning Sessions

Check–In
Members of the University of Indianapolis Registration Team will hand out packets for students and family members/guests. Students and family members will have time to review their schedule, ask questions, and get energized for the day with a bite to eat at the complimentary continental breakfast.

Welcome Session
Members of the University of Indianapolis Registration Team will welcome new students and family members and review important information for the day. At the conclusion of this session, students and family members will split into groups.

Introduction
Students will meet with their Orientation Assistant (OA) and group. OAs will review the contents of the student packet and the schedule for the day. Students will have their student ID picture taken, fill out a student activity interest form, and have the opportunity to meet other new students at this session.

Advising Appointment
Students will meet with their advisor for 25–minutes to schedule their fall classes. A time will be selected for the student and it will be indicated on their schedule.

Financial Aid
All students receiving a loan from financial aid must attend this mandatory session to learn more about their loan and to complete the entrance interview

Math Proficiency Exam
Students that are required to take this exam will take it at this time. This will be indicated on the student's schedule.

The College Experience On Stage
Students that are not taking the Math Proficiency Exam will attend this interactive performance by the OAs. Students will learn about what college life is all about at UIndy. Students will have an opportunity to ask the OAs questions throughout the performance.

English Proficiency Exam
Students that are required to take this exam will take it at this time. This will be indicated on the student's schedule.

Welcome Week Preview
Students that are not taking the English Proficiency Exam will meet with their OA to learn more about the importance (and FUN) of Welcome Week! Students will receive information about move–in/check–in day, opening session, OA In–the–know Sessions, Discovery Sessions, Department Meetings, and all of the fun activities that happen during Welcome Week.

Lunch
Students will be able to meet up with their family members to review the progress of the day and have lunch with members of the University community.

Afternoon Sessions

Information Fair
Representatives from the Student Affairs Division and beyond will be available to share the services that are available to students. Offices and organizations at this fair will include: Academic Success Center, Career Services, Co–Curricular Programs, Ecumenical & Interfaith Programs, Follett's Bookstore, Health & Counseling Center, Client Services, International Division, NCAA Clearinghouse, University Police, 5/3 Bank, H.H. Gregg, and On Campus Marketing.

Foreign Language Placement Exam
Students that are required to take this exam will take it at this time. This will be indicated on the student's schedule.

Everything You Need to Know About College
Students not taking the Foreign Language Placement Exam will attend this informal session to ask current students those pressing questions about college life and what to expect when they arrive in the fall.

Residence Hall Meeting
Students planning to live on campus will attend the meeting of the residence hall they have been assigned to for the fall. In addition to learning about the rules and regulations of the residence halls, students will have an opportunity to get to know their fellow students, meet the residence hall staff, and get a tour of the building, including a residence hall room.

Commuter Meeting
Students planning to commute to campus will meet with the Director of First Year Programs and current commuter students to learn about parking, commuter services, meal plan options, getting involved, and how to make the most of their college experience.

Send–Off Reception
Students and family members can wrap up their day with the Admissions Staff at the Hospitality Center. They will be available to take any paperwork and answer final questions before families head home.
