What is the Registration Day schedule like?
Registration Day consists of a full day of activities and meetings for both new students and family members. For students, the day consists of meeting with your advisor, scheduling classes, taking proficiency exams, and interacting with new students just like you at various orientation sessions. For family members, the day consists of workshops that cover financial aid, residence life, commuter life, and transitions, and interacting with various members of Student Affairs throughout the day. Is Registration Day mandatory?
Yes, all new students are required to attend one Registration Day. This day is mandatory because at this time all new students take placement tests and meet with their advisor to register for fall classes.

Can I bring a family member or guest with me to Registration Day?
Yes, students may bring a family member or guest with them to Registration Day.

How will I know which Registration Day to attend?
After paying your deposit for tuition and/or housing, you will receive a confirmation letter from the Office of Admissions regarding your scheduled Registration Day.

Where do I check in for Registration Day?
Check-in for Registration Day will be in front of the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center. Please see the campus map for specific directions.

Where can I stay overnight before or after Registration Day if I’m traveling a long distance?

When are the Registration Days?
June 14, 15, 17, 18, 22, 24, 25 and August 2, 2010.

What proficiency tests will I take and why do I have to take them?
Students may need to take the English, Math, and Foreign Language Proficiency exams. The score you receive on these tests will help your advisor determine the classes you will take in the fall.

How much does Registration Day cost?
The orientation fee is $40 and is included in the tuition bill that is mailed out in late July.

Do I need to set up an appointment with my advisor before my Registration Day?
No, this appointment will be determined for you. The appointment will be put in your schedule and you will receive this at check–in.

Do I sign up for classes at Registration Day?
Yes, when you meet with your advisor you will register for your classes for the fall.

When will I receive my schedule?
Students that attend a June registration day will receive their schedules in mid–July. Your proficiency test scores will not be completed on Registration Day, so that is why you will not receive a final schedule until then. Students attending the July Registration Day will receive their schedule before the first day of classes.

What should I bring with me on Registration Day?
You should bring pencils, pens, and spending money for trips to the bookstore. In addition, you should bring your completed Health Record and Housing Application, if you have not turned them in yet. There are no formal functions, so casual wear is acceptable dress for the day. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes to walk in.

Where can I park on Registration Day?
All of the campus parking lots are open to visitors during the summer time. Please see the campus map for specific parking lots.

Can I get my student ID on Registration Day?
Although it is required for students to get their student ID picture taken during Registration Day, they will not receive their student ID card until the first day of Welcome Week in August.

Can I buy my textbooks on Registration Day?
No, textbooks are not available for purchase on Registration Day. Students may purchase their books during Welcome Week or closer to the beginning of the year online at www.uindy.bkstr.com.

Can I get my parking permit on Registration Day?
No, because students must have their student ID with them in order to receive a parking permit. Students will be able to pick up a free parking permit during Welcome Week.

Will I find out which residence hall I’m living on RegistrationDay?
Yes, students will have a meeting in the residence hall that they have been assigned to for the fall.

Will I find out who my roommate is on Registration Day?
No, students will not receive their roommate assignments until the middle of July. These assignments will be sent through the mail and will include roommate contact information.

When will I receive my e-mail account?
Students will receive their e-mail accounts with their schedule of classes in July.

What is the difference between Registration Day and Welcome Week?
Registration Day is a one–day event that is focused on advising, testing, and scheduling classes. Welcome Week is the official one-week orientation program for all new students (freshmen and transfer) that begins on the Wednesday before the first day of classes.

Will I be able to learn more about Financial Aid at Registration Day?
Yes, staff from the Office of Financial Aid will have a meeting with family members in the morning and they will also be available to answer questions throughout the day.

At the University of Indianapolis, Orientation consists of Summer Registration Days and Welcome Week. Both of these programs are designed to help you make your transition to the University.
