Orientation Leader (OL) Job Description
Participate in Orientation Leader Training & Development
- Orientation Leader Training
- Attend the annual off-campus retreat
- Learn about the Orientation Team, Freshmen Transition Issues, Registration Days, Welcome Week.
- Learn how to research, prepare, and facilitate interactive sessions throughout the freshmen orientation process.
- Learn about professional staff, administrators, faculty, and the offices that they work in.
- Orientation Planning
- Plan sessions for Registration Days & Welcome Week.
- Develop theme for Welcome Week.
Guide New Students at Registration Days
- Interact with new students and their families to welcome them to the University
- Lead and facilitate interactive sessions with a group of new students and families.
Communicate with New Students during Summer
- Contact new students throughout the summer to answer questions before they arrive on campus.
Guide New Students at Welcome Week
- Guide an assigned group of new students through Welcome Week.
- Lead and facilitate interactive sessions with a group of Orientation Leaders.
- Attend all events assigned to.
Communicate with New Students during Fall Semester
- Contact assigned group of students in mid-September to check on their progress as a new Greyhound.
Be a Positive Role Model for New Students
- Promptly and accurately complete all tasks.
- Be willing to try and learn new things.
- Work with other OLs, staff, and faculty as needed to make orientation successful.
- Be positive and constructive in attitude and actions with regard to the University.
- Display professionalism in all aspects of daily life including in Internet blogs and personal sites
- Devote a considerable amount of time to the position without sacrificing studies.
- Observe all University, State, and Federal laws.
Remuneration
- A stipend of $350
- Free OL gear (shirts, lanyards, portfolios, bags, etc.)
- Free food and lodging during training, Registration Days, and Welcome Week
- Move into your residence hall early
